How can one pilot cram so much into a single lifetime? Climb into Captain Terry Reece's cockpit, fasten your seatbelt, and hold on for an exciting journey into the world of aviation.
Born to a family of transplanted North Carolinians who moved to Washington State, a young Reece explored the hills of the Pacific Northwest. Hiking in the mountains and being a fire lookout gave him a taste of adventure, but he craved more-and he got it.
Reece's first flying lesson ended in a cloud of billowing dust, ripped metal, and broken Plexiglas. But that didn't keep him grounded. Over the next few years, he navigated his Lockheed C-130 to steamy nights in Rangoon, risky undercover aircraft deliveries to Libya, icy Arctic expeditions, and desperate flights out of the desert with machine guns pointed at his gut, to landing Boeing jets on short, icy runways on Alaska's Aleutian Chain.
Reece's entertaining biography delves into the fast-paced world of aviation and is filled with compassion, danger, bits of humor, and the fol

Flying North South East and West eBook Captain Terry Reece Reviews
This book is a history of bush flying in Alaska and other places. The author flies light planes and C-130's into a series of adventures. I particularly enjoyed it because I lived in Alaska for a long time and learned to fly there. But most of all I enjoyed the writing. Captain Reece is a good story teller. I will often put a book down in the middle if the writing is poor or if the story is not well presented. I read this through and thoroughly enjoyed it.
Whether you are into aviation or not, this is an exciting book that you will not put down for very long until it is finished. Being both an Alaskan and a pilot, its very relavant and just plain fun, but will also be enjoyed by the non flyer, non Alaskan, or just anybody. My only complaint is I want more--to find out what happens next in these great tales. I'm looking for the sequal!
This book is such a treat, it took me back to my days in Alaska. Well written, loved the humor and by the seat of your pants adventures. A must read!
Captain Reece writes an exciting book about a time of "lost" Alaska aviation history. He describes a personal adventure from his time as an entry level forest fire smokejumper, to his rise to Chief Pilot for Alaska International Air's successor, Markair. His book also describes flying in the gritty world of Africa transporting "supplies" into war torn countries for "certain government agencies."
Well written and fast paced, this book was a joy to read, especially for those of us that lived part of it with him...

A nice look at flying for the U. S air force, and cargo delivery anywhere and everywhere can be arduous and interesting
Loved it as a retired Canadian bush pilot. Brought back fond memories of days gone bye.
